Kitchen remodel in the Twin Cities — design-build under one contract, 2-year warranty

Kitchen remodels are the highest-volume, highest-average-ticket residential remodeling project category — and the most searched. The National Kitchen and Bath Association (NKBA) reports kitchen projects represent approximately 29% of all remodeling activity by dollar volume.

In the Twin Cities metro, a mid-range kitchen remodel (new layout, semi-custom cabinetry, quartz countertops, tile backsplash, appliance package) runs $55,000-$95,000; a full custom gut-and-reconfigure with structural wall removal and premium finishes reaches $100,000-$160,000. Cosmetic refresh projects (cabinet refinishing, new counters, new appliances, no structural work) run $25,000-$50,000.

Our process: in-home consult to walk the space and discuss vision; 3D rendering and material board within 2-3 weeks; written estimate with multiple scope options; permit pull and construction schedule confirmation; 8-16 week construction window depending on scope; final walkthrough and 2-year craftsmanship warranty registration.

Kitchen Remodel — common questions

How long does a kitchen remodel take?
8-16 weeks depending on scope. Cosmetic refresh (cabinet refinishing, new counters, no structural): 8-10 weeks. Mid-range remodel (semi-custom cabinets, layout unchanged): 10-14 weeks. Full custom gut with wall removal: 14-20 weeks. We give a firm completion date after the permit is issued.
Can I live in the house during a kitchen remodel?
Yes — most clients stay home. We set up a temporary kitchen (mini-fridge, microwave, coffee setup) in another part of the home. Full kitchen demolition phase (1-2 weeks) is the most disruptive; once cabinets and trades work begins, it is manageable. Most clients adjust quickly.
What is the difference between custom, semi-custom, and stock cabinets?
Stock cabinets (IKEA, big-box): pre-built sizes, lowest cost, shorter lead times. Semi-custom (Diamond, Kraftmaid, Wellborn): pre-built carcass with custom door styles, finishes, and modifications — the Twin Cities mid-range standard. Custom cabinets (local cabinetmaker): built to exact specifications from the design, longest lead time, highest cost, no compromises. Most mid-range remodels use semi-custom for the value-quality balance.
Will you handle the appliances or do I buy them separately?
Either works. Many clients prefer to choose appliances themselves at a showroom (Warners' Stellian, Mountain Marble) and have us coordinate delivery and install. We can also source the appliance package and include it in the contract — Wolf, Sub-Zero, Thermador, Bosch, KitchenAid available through our trade accounts at modest markup.
