How quickly can a locksmith get to me if I am locked out?
Brassline targets 30-minute response time in our core Indianapolis + Marion County service area; outer suburbs (Westfield, Plainfield, Avon, Brownsburg) target 40 minutes. We dispatch from our Keystone Avenue shop and from technicians already on the road across Central Indiana. Anna captures your address and confirms the ETA via SMS before the tech leaves so you know exactly when help is arriving.
How much does a lockout cost?
Standard residential lockout: $75-$150 flat rate. Automotive lockout (no key replacement): $75-$150. Key replacement and programming: $150-$500 depending on vehicle make and key type. We quote the price BEFORE arrival, not after. Beware companies that quote $19 on the phone and present a $400 bill on arrival — that bait-and-switch is a predatory tactic and has given locksmiths a bad name in unlicensed states like Indiana. Our quote is the final price.
Can you replace a lost car key, including transponder and proximity fobs?
Yes. We cut and program transponder keys, proximity fobs, and high-security European keys on-site for most makes 2010 and newer. Standard transponder (Honda, Toyota, Ford, Chevy, Hyundai 2010-2019): $150-$300. Proximity push-button fob (most makes 2012+): $250-$500. European luxury (BMW, Mercedes, Audi, VW): $350-$700. Lost-all-keys scenarios on some Toyota / Honda models require additional security module reset — Anna captures this at intake to set correct ETA and pricing.
Do you install smart locks like Schlage Encode and August?
Yes. We install Schlage Encode, Kwikset Halo, August Smart Lock Pro, Yale Assure, and other Z-Wave / Zigbee / Wi-Fi smart locks. Our ACE-certified tech confirms door prep (2-1/8" bore, 1" backset, door thickness) and hub compatibility at the booking call so the install goes smoothly. Most smart-lock installs complete in 45-90 minutes with hub pairing and app walkthrough before the tech leaves.
Should I rekey or replace my locks when I move into a new home?
Rekeying is almost always the right answer for a typical move-in. We disassemble the cylinder, replace the driver pins to match a new key cut, and reassemble — old keys no longer operate the mechanism. Cost runs $25-$75 per lock vs $80-$200+ for full lock replacement. Lock replacement is appropriate only when the existing hardware is damaged, builder-grade quality, or you want a smart-lock upgrade. Anna explains the rekey-vs-replace tradeoff at the booking call.
Are you licensed in Indiana?
Indiana does not require a state locksmith license — Indiana is one of about 15 states without a statewide locksmith licensing law. We comply with all applicable Marion County business registration requirements and operate under our ALOA Security Professionals Association membership, which is the strongest available locksmith credential in unlicensed states. We are also bonded ($10,000) and insured ($1,000,000 general liability). Certificate of insurance on request.
How does Anna handle commercial master-key system inquiries?
Commercial calls are routed separately from residential. Anna captures property type (office, multi-family, warehouse, retail), approximate door count, current keying status, and any security concerns (e.g. a former employee with keys, recent break-in, audit requirement). The call is flagged as a commercial lead for our ACE-certified commercial estimator rather than booked as a standard residential service slot. Master-key system design takes 1-2 days; physical installation runs separately based on door count.
What software does Anna integrate with for locksmith companies?
Anna connects to the field-service platforms locksmiths actually use: ServiceTitan (multi-tech), Housecall Pro (small fleet), Jobber (mid-market), and ServiceFusion (parts inventory). New jobs flow into your system with lockout type, vehicle details (for automotive), or door / hub details (for smart locks) pre-populated. Bi-directional sync means dispatched ETAs and completion notes flow back into the customer record automatically.
