About Peak Concrete Co

Boston's precision concrete craftsmen — over-spec'd on purpose since 2013

Founded in 2013, Peak Concrete Co has completed 1,200+ Greater Boston pours with MA Construction Supervisor licensure, ACI Certified Flatwork Finishers on every crew, $2M GL insurance, and a 5-year structural warranty on every foundation and slab project.

Why we built Peak the way we built it

Marcus Petrov founded Peak in 2013 after eight years as a form carpenter and finisher for a Cambridge GC — watching customers get sold under-spec'd driveways at thin pricing that failed in 4-5 New England winters. The pattern: 3 inches of concrete on 2 inches of base, no rebar, no proper air-entrainment for freeze-thaw, and a 1-year warranty that quietly expired before the first major freeze-thaw cycle hit.

Peak was built around three commitments: spec exceeds MA code minimum on every pour (4 inches minimum, 6 inches at vehicle-load, #4 rebar grid, 4,000 PSI mix with proper air entrainment), ACI Certified Flatwork Finisher leads every project, and 5-year structural warranty in writing. Those commitments have not changed in 13 years and they are why Peak's repeat-GC base has grown from 1 (in 2014) to 18 active GCs today.

How Peak Concrete Co grew

13 years of growth in Greater Boston, built entirely on referrals and repeat customers.

Founded in Cambridge

Marcus Petrov launches Peak Concrete Co with one truck, his own form-carpenter tools, and a Cambridge basement office. First year focus: residential driveway replacement in Cambridge, Somerville, and Brookline. Early reputation built on spec quality, not pricing.

MA CSL + first foundation project

Marcus earns Massachusetts Construction Supervisor License #CS-095217 from MA OPSI. First major foundation repair completed (1920s Brookline brownstone with active water intrusion). Foundation work becomes a Peak specialty over the next 5 years.

First commercial GC contract

Peak wins its first commercial general contractor sub-contract — a 4-unit Cambridge new-build foundation + garage slabs. Lauren Brennan joins as Operations Director from a Greater Boston commercial GC, brings Procore + scheduling discipline.

ACI Certified Flatwork Finishers on every crew

Peak hits its goal of having an ACI Certified Flatwork Finisher on every crew (not just one floating across jobs). This becomes a Peak hiring standard going forward — apprentices work toward ACI certification on a structured 2-3 year track.

Stamped + decorative specialization

Tomas Costa joins as Decorative Specialist with Brickform and NCDC certifications. Peak's decorative concrete line (stamped patios, exposed-aggregate driveways, pool decks) becomes the fastest-growing Peak revenue category — 35% of total annual revenue by 2024.

1,000-pour milestone

Cumulative completed pours cross 1,000 across Suffolk, Middlesex, Norfolk, and Essex counties. Crew expands to 14 full-time including 6 ACI Certified Flatwork Finishers. First BBB A+ accreditation. Boston Magazine Top of the Hub remodeling recognition.

Anna AI receptionist goes live

VantaWeb's Anna AI takes over inbound calls 24/7 — capturing scope, access constraints, and timing at intake, routing commercial vs residential correctly, and booking site assessments directly into Procore.

Part of Boston, not just operating in it

Peak has been on Greater Boston job sites long enough to remember when Cambridge was still inexpensive and Somerville was a sleepy commuter town. Being local is not a marketing line — it is where Marcus coaches youth hockey at Wellington Arena and where Lauren runs the Boston Marathon every spring.

Community work is practical, repeatable, and skill-aligned.

Habitat for Humanity Greater Boston critical-repair partner — Free concrete critical-repair work (front steps, accessibility ramps, foundation patches) on Habitat for Humanity Greater Boston client homes. Materials donated through Aggregate Industries supplier program. 12 homes served in 2024.

Greater Boston Food Bank annual food drive — Company-wide food drive every November. 2024 drive collected 1,850 lbs of non-perishables for the Greater Boston Food Bank. Every staff member participates and the company matches contributions dollar-for-dollar.

Veterans Inc. transitional-housing partner — Free aging-in-place concrete work (accessibility ramps, no-curb showers, lowered thresholds) for veterans transitioning into Greater Boston housing through Veterans Inc. 4 households served annually.

Boston Trade Apprenticeship Program — Two paid concrete apprenticeship slots per year in partnership with Wentworth Institute of Technology and the Greater Boston Building Trades Council. Four current Peak finishers came through this pipeline.
