Common service questions

How long does a driveway replacement take?
Boston-area driveway replacement: 3-5 business days total. Day 1: demolition + haul-away. Day 2: subgrade prep + base course + grading. Day 3: form-setting + rebar (if required). Day 4: pour + finish. After Day 4: 7-day cure before light traffic; 28-day cure for full structural strength. Most projects start within 2-3 weeks of contract.
Are you licensed in Massachusetts?
Yes. Peak Concrete Co holds Massachusetts Construction Supervisor License (CSL) #CS-095217 issued by MA Office of Public Safety and Inspections, plus MA Home Improvement Contractor registration #189402 (required for any residential project over $1,000). We are bonded $25,000, insured ($2M GL / $4M aggregate), and our crew leaders are ACI Certified Concrete Flatwork Finishers. All credentials verifiable at mass.gov.
Should I repair or replace my driveway?
General rule: if cracks are under 1/4 inch wide and the underlying base is stable, repair makes sense ($2,000-$5,000 typical). If cracks are wider than 1/4 inch, the driveway has visible settling or heaving, or the surface is spalling extensively, replacement is the better investment ($14,000-$28,000 for a typical 2-car Boston driveway). Anna captures photos at intake so the estimator can give you a realistic recommendation before the site visit.
How much does concrete cost per square foot?
Boston-area residential concrete pricing (installed): plain broom-finish driveway $9-$13/sq ft; exposed-aggregate $13-$17/sq ft; stamped decorative $16-$22/sq ft; foundation walls $24-$35/linear foot; structural slabs with rebar $11-$15/sq ft. Pricing varies by access (truck reach), site prep complexity, and rebar/mesh requirements. Free written quote after the site assessment.
Can you work in winter?
Boston winters limit the pour window: November through March is generally too cold for reliable curing without admixtures and blankets. Peak can pour year-round using cold-weather concrete (calcium chloride accelerators + insulated curing blankets) but the cost premium is 12-18% and the cure timeline extends. Most homeowners save money by booking April-October.
Do you handle the permit and engineered drawings?
Yes — every Peak project includes permit pull through the appropriate building authority (Boston ISD, Cambridge, Brookline, Newton, etc.). For foundation work, retaining walls, and structural slabs we include engineered (sealed) drawings from our partner structural engineer. All inspections coordinated and passed in sequence (footing, rebar, post-pour).
