AC installation and replacement for Phoenix homes — Manual J load calculation included

A central AC system in Phoenix runs roughly twice as many cooling hours per year as the national average — and most systems are oversized at install, which leads to short-cycling, humidity problems, and premature compressor failure. The fix is a Manual J load calculation on every replacement: an ACCA-standard equipment-sizing method that accounts for square footage, insulation, window orientation, infiltration, and internal loads.

We are a Trane Comfort Specialist and Lennox Premier Dealer, which means our installations qualify for extended manufacturer warranties (up to 12 years parts and labor depending on equipment). Federal energy-efficiency tax credits under the Inflation Reduction Act provide up to $600 for qualifying high-efficiency central air systems, and SRP / APS utility rebates can add $200–$800 depending on equipment SEER2 rating.

As of January 2026, residential systems use A2L refrigerants (R-32 and R-454B) under updated EPA rules. Our installers are A2L safety-trained and equipped with the leak-detection instruments and handling procedures required for the new refrigerant chemistry. Old-refrigerant equipment is properly decommissioned and recovered under EPA Section 608 protocols.

AC Installation & Replacement — common questions

How long does a full AC replacement take?
Most Phoenix residential central air replacements take 1–2 working days from removal of the old system to startup of the new one. Larger or zoned-system homes can extend to 3 days. We give a firm start date in the estimate and update immediately if equipment delivery delays.
What is Manual J and why does it matter?
Manual J is the ACCA-standard residential load calculation that determines exactly what tonnage and capacity your home needs. The most common installer error in Phoenix is oversizing — matching the old system tonnage without re-running the calculation, which leads to short-cycling, humidity problems, and shortened equipment life. We run Manual J on every replacement.
Will the federal tax credit and utility rebates apply to my install?
Federal IRA tax credit (up to $600) applies to systems meeting specific SEER2 thresholds — we identify qualifying models in the quote. SRP and APS utility rebates ($200–$800) require pre-approval before install in some cases; we handle the paperwork. Stacking both incentives is straightforward if you plan ahead.
Are A2L refrigerants safe in residential use?
A2L refrigerants (R-32 and R-454B) are mildly flammable but require very specific concentration and ignition conditions to combust. They are widely used in Europe and Asia and have been federally approved for US residential use since January 2026. Our installers are A2L-safety-certified and the equipment is engineered with leak detection and safety cutoffs.
