How long does a typical handyman visit take?
Single-job visits (mount a TV, swap a faucet, patch a wall) typically take 1-3 hours including drive time and walkthrough. Multi-task honey-do visits typically take 4-8 hours and cover 5-12 line items. Anna captures your full job list at intake so we send the right amount of time — no rushed exits, no surprise upcharges.
Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Tidewater Handyman Co holds Virginia Class C Contractor License #2705-184231 — required for any contract over Virginia's $1,000 handyman exemption. We carry a $50,000 surety bond, $2,000,000 per occurrence / $4,000,000 aggregate General Liability insurance, and Workers Compensation on every employee. Certificate of insurance available on request and accepted pre-approved by most Richmond property managers and HOAs.
What is your hourly rate vs flat rate?
About 30 of our most common jobs are flat-rate priced over the phone — TV mount ($180-$350 depending on size + concealment), faucet replacement ($175 flat plus parts), drywall patch up to 12 inches ($150 flat), interior door adjustment ($95 flat). Larger or multi-task jobs are hourly ($95/hr with a 2-hour minimum) with a not-to-exceed cap we agree to before any work starts.
Do you require a deposit?
No deposit for jobs under $500. For larger multi-task visits ($500+) we collect 25% at scheduling and the balance on completion. We accept cash, check, and all major cards. Property managers and commercial customers can be invoiced on Net-15 terms with an approved account.
What jobs are too big for a handyman?
Anything requiring panel work, rewiring, or new circuits goes to a licensed electrician. Main line plumbing, slab leaks, sewer cleanouts, water heater installs, and gas line work go to a licensed plumber. Roof replacement, structural framing, full bathroom remodels, kitchen remodels, and additions go to a general contractor. We are happy to refer to our partner trades for any of these.
Do you do small electrical work?
Yes — replacing outlets and switches, installing light fixtures and ceiling fans, mounting under-cabinet lighting, troubleshooting GFCI/AFCI trips. Anything requiring panel work or new circuits goes to a licensed electrician and we will refer you to one of our partners.
Do you do small plumbing work?
Yes — faucet replacement, garbage disposal install, running toilet repair, supply line replacement, drain snaking up to 25 feet. Anything requiring main line work, slab leak repair, or water heater install goes to a licensed plumber and we will refer you to one of our partners.
Do you stock parts or do I need to buy them?
For most common jobs the technician arrives with parts (caulk, drywall mud, paint primer, common screws/anchors, weatherstripping). For brand-specific parts (your specific faucet, door hardware, light fixture) we ask you to have them on hand OR we pick them up with a 15% material markup. Most homeowners save the markup by sourcing themselves.
Do you mount TVs and assemble furniture?
Yes — TV mounting is one of our highest-volume jobs. Flat-rate priced by TV size and whether you want in-wall cable concealment (the most-popular upgrade — $80-$120 add-on). Furniture assembly is hourly ($95/hr) since assembly time varies enormously by manufacturer.
Do you provide written quotes?
Yes — every quote over $250 is emailed to you in writing before any work starts, with a line-item scope, the flat-rate or hourly basis, the not-to-exceed cap, and the warranty terms. For under $250 we confirm scope and price in writing by text before we start.
What is your service area?
Greater Richmond — Henrico, Chesterfield, Hanover, and Goochland counties. The Fan, Short Pump, Glen Allen, Midlothian, Mechanicsville, the West End, Bon Air, Brandermill, Tuckahoe, Innsbrook, Wyndham, Salisbury and most ZIP codes in between. Areas outside this footprint are evaluated case-by-case with a small trip charge.
Which software does Anna integrate with for handyman businesses?

Visit bookings flow directly into your CRM with full job scope, photos, and the customer's full job list pre-populated.
