TV mounting + furniture assembly in Greater Richmond — flat-rate priced, same-week

TV mounting is the highest-volume handyman job in America — the rise of large flat-screens (65"+, 75"+, 85"+) and the demand for clean wall-only installations (no visible cables, no AV cabinet) has made TV mounting a category by itself.

In Greater Richmond, a standard TV mount on drywall (up to 65 inches, no concealment) runs $180. In-wall cable concealment — the most-popular upgrade — adds $80-$120 depending on outlet location and wall height. Mounting on plaster, brick, or stone (common in the Fan and Church Hill historic homes) adds $50-$100 for proper anchoring hardware. Tilting and full-motion mounts add $40-$60 over fixed mounts.

Furniture assembly is hourly ($95/hr with a 2-hour minimum) because assembly time varies enormously by manufacturer — an IKEA wardrobe takes 3-4 hours; a similar-sized Pottery Barn piece can take 1.5 hours. We bring the right tools (T-handle hex set, impact driver, rubber mallet) so we are not borrowing yours.

TV & Furniture Mounting — common questions

How long does a TV mount take?
Standard drywall mount with no concealment: 60-90 minutes. With in-wall cable concealment: 2-3 hours. Brick/stone/plaster mount: 2-3 hours with proper anchoring. We give a firm arrival window and quote the time up front.
Can you mount above the fireplace?
Yes — fireplace mounts are one of our most-common jobs. We assess the wall surface (most fireplace surrounds are stone or brick), the heat exposure (some mantels block direct heat, some do not), and the cable path (typically through the back of the cabinet to an adjacent outlet). $50-$100 over standard mount depending on complexity.
What size TV is too big to mount?
Up to 85 inches mounts to standard wall framing with proper hardware. 90+ inches requires double-stud anchoring or wall reinforcement. We will assess on arrival and recommend the right approach. Heaviest TV we have mounted: 105 inches, 142 lbs, on a double-stud frame.
Do you bring the mount or do I buy it?
Either works. Most customers buy the mount themselves (Sanus, Mounting Dream, Echogear are reliable brands) and we install. We can also bring a Sanus fixed/tilt/full-motion mount with a 15% markup over retail. Buying yourself saves the markup.
