Small Plumbing & Electrical Fixes
Small plumbing + electrical fixes — handyman scope, honest scope routing
Faucet swap, running toilet repair, garbage disposal install, outlet and switch replacement, light fixture and ceiling fan install. The small jobs that don't need a specialty trade — and the honest scope routing when they do.
Small plumbing and small electrical are the two highest-margin handyman categories — and the two most-abused by marketplace handymen who take jobs they shouldn't. The honest scope boundary matters: a kitchen faucet swap is handyman work; a water heater install is plumber work. A light fixture swap is handyman work; a new circuit is electrician work.
Plumbing IN scope: faucet replacement ($175 flat plus parts), garbage disposal install ($195 flat plus parts), running toilet repair ($95-$145 depending on cause), supply line replacement ($65-$95), drain snaking up to 25 feet ($125), simple shut-off valve replacement. Out of scope: water heater install, slab leak, main line work, sewer cleanout, gas line, water softener install.
Electrical IN scope: outlet and switch replacement ($45-$85 each), light fixture install ($95-$175 depending on height/complexity), ceiling fan install ($175-$275), GFCI/AFCI troubleshooting ($95-$145), low-voltage doorbell or thermostat install. Out of scope: any panel work, new circuits, knob-and-tube removal, EV charger circuits, generator hookups, service upgrades.
When you call with an out-of-scope job, Anna routes you to one of our partner specialty trades — and we are happy to come back after the panel work is done to do the related handyman scope (mount the EV charger to the wall after the electrician runs the circuit, for example).
